Where to begin? My life with Great Danes started 35 years ago, when I was a six-year-old girl... I got my
first dog and had the opportunity and chance to grow with a beautiful black male Lord (Brek Arbanski)and that friendship lasted
eight years. Lord came to us from Croatia and was a very successful show dog as well. After the Lord passed away, with my
persistently persuasion, in our family came the brindle male named Ares, who was not a show quality dog, but through 9 years
of his life, which he shared with us, has increased in me a deep love for this wonderful breed, and a decision has been made:
this is the breed for me and that I love. As the years went by, I have established my own family, we built a home and a
house, so I have not decided immediately to purchase a new dog, because I think that to take a proper care for any dog we
need to have a time, especially Great Danes, Apollos among breeds requires that and certainly deserves. With small children
and building homes that simply did not go. My husband Janez and I got two beautiful daughters Sara and Zana, and when they
where 8 years old (Sara) and 4 years (Žana) we purchased Yorkshire terrier for them and we named him Bini (Toby Christmas
Dream). We felt that this is the appropriate size of dog for small girls - they beginning to learn about love for the
dog, his needs, and the necessary responsibility. We took Sara to her first dog show with Bini, although we knew that he is
not a show dog. On that occasion Sarah met the discipline of "Junior Handling and she started to like it and pretty soon together
with Bini she has become a real competitor. Her younger sister Žana is following her footsteps, equally successful... For
me, this first show remind me how much I love the Great Danes and my strong desire to buy one puppy started to burn inside...It
soon resulted in the arrival of black male puppy Eros-N del Bianello (Eros), and then, with persistently Sara’s asking
we purchased yellow male puppy Antinoosa d'skandar (Amos). With the arrival of harlequin male named Bore-Atos d’Iskandar
(Atos) I truly realized my longtime dream for the excellent harlequin. All three "musketeers" have proved to be successful
show dogs, but more importantly is that they are actually a good together. Personally I am very pleased that I have
managed to infect the whole family with dogs and share a love for animals that is in today's stressful and fast way of life,
a wonderful hobby for Family and opportunity for children to learnhow to sympathize, to love and build responsibility.
Life with
the Great Danes for us is full of beautiful moments that words can hardly describe.
